The Community of Madrid has taken a significant step in preserving cultural heritage with the opening of Velintonia, the emblematic residence of the renowned poet Vicente Aleixandre. At a memorable event, around 350 visitors who had previously registered had the opportunity to explore the historic house on the first day of the open house.
The Councillor for Culture, Tourism and Sport, Mariano de Paco Serrano, had the honor of welcoming the first attendees, inaugurating the guided tours under the motto "Finally in Velintonia". During his remarks, Paco Serrano expressed his satisfaction, describing the day as 'happy' and highlighting the significance of the event. "After 40 years during which it has remained closed, we at Velintonia are opening its doors. It is an exciting moment and a milestone from the perspective of Cultural Heritage," he said.
The day not only allowed visitors to immerse themselves in the environment in which Aleixandre wrote some of his most significant works, but also to foster a greater appreciation for the culture and the literary history of the region. The initiative is part of the community's efforts to revitalize and preserve spaces that have witnessed important cultural legacies.
The success of this opening could mean new horizons for Velintonia, converting the poet's house into a cultural center accessible to all lovers of literature. The community hopes that this will be only the beginning of a new era for the emblematic place.
