The Regional Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (IRSST) of the Community of Madrid reaffirms its commitment to the prevention of occupational risks through active participation in international and local events. At the 5th International Prevencionar Congress, the IRSST not only installed a stand that became a reference point for workers and businesses but also actively participated in discussions about preventive innovation.
Germán Blázquez, head of the IRSST's Technical Unit for Innovation and Diversity, was one of the keynote speakers. In their intervention, they shared several innovative projects developed in collaboration with universities and companies, highlighting the crucial role of innovation in the prevention of occupational risks. Marina Parra, the manager of the IRSST, closed the event, emphasizing the importance of translating shared knowledge into effective actions to improve the safety, health, and well-being of workers.
Meanwhile, the IRSST participated in the Day of the Professions organized by the Interprofessional Union of the Community of Madrid. This time, your Training and Awareness team created an interactive stand that attracted more than 100 students. Through activities such as escape rooms and virtual reality simulations, young people were able to experience the role of the preventionist up close and understand the importance of this profession in the workplace.
In addition, the IRSST was present at the First Open Sessions of the Working Group on Occupational Diseases. During this meeting, emphasis was placed on the urgency of conducting further research into occupational cancer. The assistance provided by IRSST staff aimed to align their advisory campaigns with the goals of awareness-raising and early detection, as well as to promote scientific research in this field.
The IRSST's presence in these forums not only evidences its ongoing commitment to prevention, but also underscores the importance of creating spaces for dialogue and collaboration among professionals, institutions, and citizens. These events enable identifying real needs, generating innovative solutions, and strengthening safety and health in the workplace.
