The Ministry of Social Rights, Consumer Affairs and the 2030 Agenda has launched an ambitious call for proposals for the Inclusion, Child Guarantee and Fight Against Poverty Programme of the European Social Fund Plus (ESF+). This program, which has an allocation of €65.5 million, aims to select projects focused on improving the child protection system for girls, boys and adolescents across Spain.
The initiative, led by Pablo Bustinduy, has as its main objective to strengthen the support structures for the youngest, especially those in vulnerable situations. The call for proposals seeks innovative social inclusion projects that help mitigate the pernicious effects of child poverty and foster a more effective integration of at-risk minors.
The program is framed within Spain's commitment to the objectives of the 2030 Agenda and the advancement toward a more equitable and just society. In Bustinduy's words, "this call reinforces our commitment to childhood and adolescence, sectors where the need for protection and support is crucial to guarantee a future with greater opportunities and less inequality."
Projects that benefit from this funding should focus on the promotion of the rights and well-being of minors, addressing areas such as education, health, social participation, and the prevention of exclusion. The Ministry expects to receive proposals from various NGOs, local entities and other bodies that work in the social field, in order to create a network of collaboration that multiplies the impact of the funded actions.
The strategy of the Inclusion Program, the Child Guarantee, and the fight against poverty is inclusive and aims to reach children and adolescents in all its dimensions, from equal access to educational opportunities to the provision of support and protection services in emergency situations.
This call is presented in a context in which the COVID-19 pandemic has exacerbated social inequalities, clearly showing the urgency of effective interventions. The 65.5 million euros from the ESF+ will be used as a lever to trigger a series of measures that aim to provide sustainable and lasting solutions.
With this action, the Ministry of Social Rights reaffirms its intention to move toward a more balanced social structure, where childhood and adolescence find genuine opportunities for development. The selection of projects will be carried out with rigor, evaluating the potential impact and the capacity of the proposals to generate significant changes.
Pablo Bustinduy has pointed out that this program has become a key component within the broad range of initiatives that the government is implementing to meet the Sustainable Development Goals and, in particular, with the aim of eradicating child poverty and promoting social inclusion.
