The presenter of The Revolt, David Broncano, alongside his partner, actress Silvia Alonso, and several TV personalities, participated this Friday in the release of two Iberian lynx cubs in Sierra Arana, in Iznalloz, Granada. At the event, organized by the Department of Sustainability and the Environment of the Andalusian government, the importance of the work carried out in the conservation of this endangered species was highlighted. In recent years, the population of the Iberian lynx has shown a notable increase in Andalusia, reaching a census of 836 individuals, which represents almost twice as many as in 2019.
The Councillor for Sustainability, Catalina García, highlighted that the success of the Iberian lynx recovery project is due to the collaboration among administrations, organizations, and civil society. Since the start of the program, 30 individuals have been released in Sierra Arana, and for the first time in more than 40 years, the birth of cubs in this area was recorded in 2024. Despite the progress, García recalled that roads continue to pose a serious danger to the species, so the Board is implementing various initiatives to reduce the risk of vehicle collisions, including signaling systems and fencing in critical areas.
