During his recent visit to Valencia, the Minister of Social Rights, Consumption and the 2030 Agenda, Pablo Bustinduy, met with the General Council of Social Work to assess the impact of the measures adopted after the devastating DANA that affected the region in October 2024. Bustinduy highlighted the importance of government support of 700,000 euros to this entity, underscoring its crucial role in responding to the social emergency: "We must reinforce and safeguard the common good so that it serves all citizens. Our greatest asset is public services," the minister stated.
Almost a year after the disaster, Bustinduy returned to Valencia to closely observe the progress of the reconstruction. During his visit, he confirmed the Government's commitment to provide all the resources that are necessary for this task. Additionally, more than 40 million euros were secured for the affected municipalities, intended to strengthen social services and support those who faced economic difficulties due to the catastrophe.
The minister also visited an animal shelter rebuilt thanks to aid from the ministry, highlighting the crucial role that these spaces played in the rescue and care of the affected animals. Accompanied by José Ramón Becerra, Director General of Animal Rights, Bustinduy praised the staff and organizations' efforts in rebuilding the region.
Throughout the day, the minister condemned the attempts by certain far-right sectors to discredit the Valencian social organizations after the DANA, and praised the hard work of the third sector, which throughout the year has worked with the community to restore normality in the affected area.
