The National Archaeological Museum of Madrid is preparing for an exciting exhibition that will take the public on a journey through time via a unique selection of historical textiles. Mercedes Amézaga and her team have begun a meticulous process of restoration, cleaning, and consolidation of ten textile pieces dating from the 12th to the 16th centuries. These works, unpublished until now, reveal the rich cultural heritage of the era and will be exhibited for the first time this autumn.
Among the jewels that will be displayed is a 700-year-old shoe, which belonged to Doña Inés de Don Girón, wife of the Infante Don Felipe, brother of King Alfonso X. The restorer Amézaga highlights the uniqueness of these pieces, although she warns about their fragility, which implies that the exhibition will have a limited duration. This exhibit promises to attract history enthusiasts and offer a unique glimpse into the attire of medieval nobility.
