U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio has expressed his concern over the Israeli Parliament's proposal to annex the West Bank, warning that it could jeopardize the peace plan pushed by President Donald Trump to resolve the Gaza conflict. The proposal, which obtained preliminary approval in the Knesset, still requires three votes to be ratified. The West Bank, militarily controlled by Israel since 1967 after the Six-Day War, is at the center of the tensions. Rubio, who arrives in Israel this Thursday, seeks to ensure the implementation of the peace agreement and plans to meet with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
During his visit, which will extend until Saturday, Rubio will strengthen diplomatic relations and support efforts to maintain the stability of the ceasefire in Gaza. This is Rubio's third visit to Israel since September, highlighting the importance of the peace agreement for the Trump administration. Previously, key White House figures, such as Vice President JD Vance and Jared Kushner, have also visited the region in a joint effort to consolidate peace and stability in the Middle East. After his stay in Israel, Rubio will join President Trump's Asia tour.
