Road Revolution: Discover the Meaning of the New DGT Sign Aiming to Improve Road Safety

The A-355 road, located in the province of Málaga, has implemented innovative traffic signage in an effort to improve driver safety. A thick red line now divides the traffic lanes, warning drivers about the importance of moderating speed. According to an informational video from Mikel Driving School on Instagram, this sign responds to the need for vehicles to slow down by making the width of the lane appear smaller. Additionally, it reinforces the prohibition against crossing solid lines to overtake, underscoring its nature as an impenetrable boundary on this road.

Known as the 'road of fear,' the A-355 has suffered a series of deadly accidents, recording about ten fatalities on a stretch of just 10 kilometers in 2023. In response, the Andalusian government has installed this special signage to raise drivers' awareness of the dangers of overtaking on this stretch that connects Marbella with Cártama. The red line not only seeks to prevent further tragedies, but also to raise drivers' awareness of the importance of obeying traffic rules to ensure safe driving.
