El servicio de trenes de Rodalies en Cataluña permanece suspendido tras el masivo apagón eléctrico del lunes. Renfe has made this decision due to the "instability" of the electricity supply, according to Antonio Carmona, director of Rodalies, who has not provided a schedule for the resumption of service. The blackout has left thousands of passengers with no clear transportation options, as Renfe considers it unviable to enable an alternative road transport. Meanwhile, the Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat de Catalunya (FGC) and Barcelona's metro are gradually returning to service.
Despite the challenges, the high-speed service between Barcelona and Madrid, along with the connections to Girona and Figueres, is experiencing delays. However, service has not yet been restored on the Mediterranean Corridor or on the routes toward northern Spain. Carmona, in a brief intervention from Barcelona's Sants station, highlighted that security is the top priority. For this reason, it has been decided to block train traffic to prevent unplanned stops due to possible electrical faults. This latest incident adds to a series of recurring problems facing the Rodalies network, affecting around 400,000 passengers daily.
