Selection Process for Temporary Teaching Posts in the 2025-2026 Academic Year

The recent update to the process for forming the lists of applicants for teaching posts on an interim basis has generated anticipation and reactions among education professionals ahead of the upcoming 2025-2026 academic year. The amendment to Annex I, officially presented this Tuesday, introduces significant changes to the criteria and requirements that applicants must meet.

According to the official statement, the review of the annex responds to the need to adapt teacher profiles to the new educational and technological requirements. This adjustment seeks to ensure that interim educators have the necessary competencies to face the current challenges of the education system.

Among the main novelties, there is a greater emphasis on continuing education and on digital skills. Applicants must demonstrate, in addition to their academic training, completion of specific courses in educational technology tools. Furthermore, a training module on diversity and inclusion has been introduced, reflecting the education system's commitment to a more equitable and universal education.

These modifications also include a more rigorous evaluation process, which will take into account the academic background, professional experience, and extracurricular courses undertaken by the candidates. The weighting of these elements seeks to prioritize those teachers who, in addition to their qualification, demonstrate an active commitment to their professional development.

The reactions have not been slow to come. Several sector unions have expressed their backing for the changes, recognizing the importance of having well-trained teachers to meet modern educational realities. However, some professionals have expressed concern about the speed with which these modifications will be implemented, which could cause confusion and difficulties among those who aspire to join the roster of interim teachers.

For its part, the Ministry of Education has assured that the necessary support and resources will be provided to facilitate teachers' compliance with the new requirements. In addition, training workshops and seminars will be launched to guide those interested in the process of updating their skills.

With these modifications, the process aims not only to adapt teaching to the needs of the 21st century, but also to guarantee a standard of quality in the education received by students in the public system. The start date for the submission of applications will be announced soon, thereby marking the start of a cycle of opportunities and challenges for applicants seeking interim teaching positions.
