The budgets of the Valencian Generalitat for 2025, which total 32,291 million euros, were approved after an intense debate by the People's Party (PP) and Vox. These budgets, 8.6% higher than the previous fiscal year, include 2,364 million allocated for reconstruction after the floods on October 29. With the support of 53 deputies to the opposition's 46, led by PSPV-PSOE and Compromís, the approval triggered applause on the government benches, while the opposition demanded the resignation of President Carlos Mazón, accused of post-disaster mismanagement. This context takes place amid a general strike called by unions in protest against budget cuts.
The discussions focused on the 4,000 amendments submitted, of which only the proposals by PP and Vox were approved. The budgets reflect a notable influence of the far right, with significant cuts in funds for the promotion of the Valencian language and international programs, as well as adjustments to democratic memory and the environment. Vox spokesperson José María Llanos noted that, although they are not entirely his proposal, the budgets are a step toward post-flood reconstruction. On the other hand, the opposition denounces that these accounts are used to secure Mazón's position more than to benefit the citizens, and they consider them detrimental to social movements and to the use of Valencian.
