Patients and healthcare professionals join Grünenthal in the Second Solidarity March Against Pain

Grünenthal Pharma, through its platform Pain.com, celebrated the past October 4 the Second edition of their Solidarity March., under the motto Every step counts.The objective of this initiative is to bring together healthcare professionals, people with chronic pain, family members and friends. for to make the impact visible of this disease and promote moderate exercise as a complementary tool in their treatment.

The march counted with the The backing of more than 40 scientific societies and patient associations., and gathered to about 300 people in a participatory and supportive environment.

The journey, of three kilometers, took place in the Juan Carlos I Park in Madrid, through an accessible and slope-free itinerary, designed for all ages and physical conditions. Regarding the nutrition workshop, the pharmacist and dietitian-nutritionist specializing in chronic pain, Laura Isabel Arranz, has delivered a practical session in which she offered tips and tricks on which foods to include or avoid in the diet to improve joint and muscle health, as well as to relieve abdominal pain or headaches. Additionally, as a capstone, he has developed a "recipe against pain" based on a simple dish suitable for people with chronic pain.

Regarding the workshop on emotional health, Ángela de la Rosa and María González, specialized coaches at the psychological help office “Your Emotional Health” and authors of the training course ‘Cuida tu salud emocional para acompañar mejor a tu paciente con dolor crónico’, have offered a practical session on which aspects are the most important to address by patients who suffer from chronic pain and their social environment, such as the importance of sharing their feelings with their friends and family, managing social life with chronic pain, or the inclusion of mindfulness as therapy. Similarly, the Spanish company TRAK, a pioneer in the development of telerehabilitation solutions using artificial intelligence, has enabled a space where attendees have been able to test its telerehabilitation platform, tailored to their condition, and perform recovery exercises for knee osteoarthritis, low back pain, or neck pain, among others.

Furthermore, the activity titled 'In the Skin of a Patient with Chronic Pain' has allowed people to identify with patients and to feel their same limitations when carrying out daily activities. Thus, by donning a special suit and through a series of tests, the participants have experienced how chronic pain can greatly limit these activities.

This Walk, like the first edition, has had a charitable purpose, and Grünenthal has made a donation to the Theodora Foundation based on the number of participants and kilometers covered, totaling €4,000, thereby helping to continue bringing joy and hope to hospitalized children.
