Oracle has launched an innovative solution for governments that aims to address the challenges of food insecurity through the use of advanced technology. Oracle Government Data Intelligence for Agriculture combines cloud computing, artificial intelligence, and Earth observation to provide real-time visibility into agricultural performance and the associated risks.
This new tool is integrated into the Oracle Digital Government Suite and runs on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI). The platform gathers data from satellite imagery, meteorological sources, detailed soil information, historical crop records, as well as public datasets and owners of the public sector. The objective is to predict harvests, detect threats, model interventions, and automate response plans.
Mike Sicilia, CEO of Oracle, stated that food security is a global challenge and that current technology enables transforming agricultural operations to achieve more predictable results. With this solution, Oracle offers a secure system that provides countries with predictive insights to improve the resilience of their food systems.
The lack of precise and timely data has been an obstacle for governments in making decisions about agricultural production, shortages, and surpluses. Oracle addresses this problem through data integration, predictive analytics, and AI-guided operations, providing dashboards for ministerial teams that facilitate threat assessment and response coordination.
The Minister of ICT and Innovation of Rwanda, Hon. Paula Ingabire highlighted the importance of technology in addressing social challenges, indicating that together with Oracle, AI solutions are being evaluated to forecast agricultural production and support more timely decisions.
The platform operates on the principle that everything is connected, integrating multiple data sources such as satellite imagery, weather information, soil maps, and historical records. This enables running AI models that predict performance, detect threats, and simulate interventions, delivering insights through dashboards for risk management and monitoring.
Oracle emphasizes security and governance on its platform, ensuring that data are managed securely and efficiently, and that AI recommendations are translated into effective public policies.
The objective is to provide governments with the ability to manage food systems more effectively through data integration and alert automation, reducing uncertainties and improving transparency in critical decisions. The solution also fosters continuous evolution through a feedback loop, continually improving recommendations based on real results.
The availability of Government Data Intelligence for Agriculture is effective as of today, and is part of a broader strategy for the digital transformation of the public sector led by Oracle. The platform proposes a decision factory for agriculture, combining integrated data, AI models and a continuous learning cycle, which makes it an essential tool for addressing food security.
