Noemí Galera, director of the Academy of ‘Operación Triunfo’ (OT), has expressed her support for the boycott of Israel in Eurovision, joining the stance of countries such as the Netherlands, Ireland, Slovenia, and Iceland. In an interview on SER Catalunya, Galera questioned Israel's participation, suggesting that, if Russia has been excluded, Israel should receive the same treatment. For his part, the Minister of Culture, Ernest Urtasun, has urged RTVE to join this boycott, highlighting the need to pressure the festival's organizers, which will take place in Vienna next May. RTVE, for its part, maintains its intention to participate, depending on the decision of the European Broadcasting Union in December.
Regarding 'Operación Triunfo', Galera is optimistic about the 13th edition, which aims to capture the audience's attention with a renewed format that will air on Amazon Prime and YouTube. Despite criticisms on social media, Galera assures that the program will offer a meaningful platform for the 18 contestants, although Galera emphasizes that international success depends more on the audience and the industry than on the program itself. With a new jury composed of renowned names such as Cris Regatero, Abraham Mateo, Guille Milkyway, and Leire Martínez, "OT" 2025 kicks off with high expectations, promising to become a benchmark in television entertainment.
