Lenovo has taken a decisive step toward corporate sustainability with the launch of its innovative TruScale Device as a Service (DaaS) for Sustainability. This modular solution promises organizations a significant reduction in their device-related IT costs, while improving the return on investment and reducing the carbon footprint from day one.
With more than 15 years of experience in asset recovery and a track record of decommissioning more than a million devices responsibly, this initiative combines devices, services, and financing into a scalable subscription. Thus, the aim is to align technological performance with the company's sustainability objectives.
Lenovo's proposal stands out for introducing tools that span from real-time carbon impact to CO₂ offsetting. Elements such as the Carbon Impact Portal and certified refurbished devices point to a more sustainable IT model. In addition, the safe decommissioning of equipment and the recovery of residual value complement a robust offering for the modern business ecosystem.
From a financial perspective, the advantages are no less impressive. The solution promises up to 35% savings in IT costs per device and a 20% reduction in total cost of ownership. Additionally, an estimated saving of 10 to 40% in maintenance tasks, backed by the ENERGY STAR® certification present in the majority of Lenovo products.
A notable example is the Coventry University Group case, which by adopting TruScale DaaS managed to offset 223 tonnes of CO₂ and save 40 hours per week on support tasks. This success demonstrates how the solution not only improves operational efficiency, but also enriches the experience of users and employees.
Through LISSA (Lenovo Intelligent Sustainability Solutions Advisor) and Care of One™, tools that use artificial intelligence, the solution's sustainability is further enhanced. These technologies enable more strategic management, improving renewal planning and personalizing configurations for users.
Lenovo contemplates five phases in the device lifecycle: Advising, Implementing, Supporting, Managing, and Retiring or Renewing, ensuring complete traceability of the economic and environmental impact. According to Rakshit Ghura, Vice President of Digital Solutions at Lenovo, "TruScale DaaS for Sustainability enables informed decision-making from day one, reducing waste, emissions and costs."
Built on the principles of the circular economy, this proposal underscores how sustainability can be transformed into a competitive advantage. Thus, Lenovo reaffirms its commitment to a waste-free business future, setting a new standard in global IT management.
