The investment group Excelsior Times has launched an innovative project in the El Pla de la Bruguera industrial park, located in Castellar del Vallès, for the construction of a new logistics center for the frozen food chain La Sirena Congelados S.A.U. This new development will significantly increase the company's cold storage capacity, with space for approximately 4,400 pallets, which represents a 50% increase compared with the current facilities at Interfrisa, Terrassa.
This improvement not only underscores the company's commitment to operational efficiency, but also marks a step forward in its sustainability strategy. The center will be equipped with a photovoltaic plant that will consist of approximately 850 solar panels, capable of generating a power of 400 kW. This innovative initiative will not only reduce energy costs, but will also minimize the group's carbon footprint, aligning with current trends toward more sustainable business practices.
Although the project is expected to be completed by the end of 2025, the exact date for the start of operations in the new facilities has yet to be determined, with estimates placing the operational transfer in the first quarter of 2026.
La Sirena, with more than four decades of operations, is a prominent figure in the frozen foods sector in Spain. The brand operates a wide network of 275 establishments in Catalonia and Madrid, and has a workforce of more than 1,300 employees. Its range of more than 800 frozen products, ranging from fish and seafood to ready meals and ice creams, has recently been expanded with the inclusion of dry food products, thereby reinforcing its commitment to diversification and customer satisfaction.
The new logistics center not only promises to improve La Sirena's infrastructure, but it also strengthens its position as a leader in the distribution of frozen foods in the country, an achievement built on the foundation of continuous innovation and close attention to consumer needs.
