The regional government has launched an ambitious initiative to strengthen the regional body responsible for managing the properties occupied by beneficiaries of social housing. With the establishment of two framework agreements exceeding 32 million euros, it is expected to ensure the meeting of needs, both anticipated and unforeseen, in these homes. The renovations include boiler replacement, plumbing repairs, paint touch-ups, and other actions arising from deterioration or vandalism, as well as cleaning and disinfection tasks.
Each contract has been awarded to three companies to expedite the execution timelines. This model will also be applied to projects aimed at transforming unoccupied premises of the Social Housing Agency (AVS) into homes adapted for people with reduced mobility. Thanks to the upgrading of these spaces, 34 new adapted homes have already been made available, with eight more under construction and another 72 planned in the next two years. The investment in this process is estimated at 6 million euros, although it could rise to 11.5 million depending on the expansion of activities and the duration of the contract.
The comprehensive renovation of each property requires an outlay of approximately 80,000 euros, covering improvements in interior layout, finishes, joinery, as well as plumbing, electrical, heating, and gas installations.
On the other hand, an additional framework agreement valued at 11.6 million euros has been established for conservation tasks arising from Building Technical Inspections, energy efficiency improvements, and maintenance of plots designated for new-build developments.
This initiative responds to the regional government's commitment to increase the stock of social housing during the current legislative term. The construction of 2,100 new homes is planned, of which more than half are already in progress in localities such as Majadahonda, Móstoles, Rivas Vaciamadrid, Valdemoro, Villa del Prado, and Madrid.
