This morning, the emblematic Corral de Comedias of Alcalá de Henares has been the stage for the presentation of its new season, with the presence of Mayor Judith Piquet. The event also brought together important figures from the cultural sector, such as Manuel Lagos, Director General of Culture and Creative Industries of the Community of Madrid, Juan Mayorga, Artistic Director of the Corral de Comedias, and the Culture Councillor, Santiago Alonso, among other members of the municipal corporation.
During his remarks, Piquet emphasized the relevance and quality of the performances that will be presented at this historic infrastructure. "El Corral is one of the treasures of Alcalá de Henares, a privilege that we take care of and share with pride," he said. In addition, he highlighted its duality as a unique museum that showcases the evolution of theater from the Golden Age to the 20th century, and as an active and surprising cultural space where the classical and the avant-garde converge.
The new programming encompasses a wide range of performances, including theatre, music, poetry, dance, and family-friendly offerings, all of which are characterized by their quality and their ability to move.
Piquet also highlighted the fundamental role of the Community of Madrid in the restoration of the Corral de Comedias. We thank the regional government for its unconditional support in bringing this historic and artistic building back to life, turning it into a space for enjoyment and cultural promotion, he concluded.
The season promises to be a reflection of artistic and cultural diversity, with theatrical offerings that will attract a diverse audience, reaffirming the Corral de Comedias as a cultural benchmark in the region.
