The mayor of Alcalá de Henares, Judith Piquet, together with Isabel Ruiz Maldonado, the first deputy mayor and councilor president of the District, welcomed the town crier Gerson Pozo, a recognized local athlete.
Gerson Pozo, a prominent figure in Spanish athletics, had the honor of inaugurating the festivities. Piquet thanked the athlete for his generosity in accepting the role of town crier, highlighting that the neighborhood is not only home to the historic residence of the patroness, but also a vibrant place in the world of sports. "It's an honor to have someone who embodies the dynamic and youthful spirit of our community," said the mayor.

Isabel Ruiz Maldonado praised Pozo, recalling her beginnings at ten years old at the Ajalkalá Club and highlighting her achievements under the direction of Toni Fernández. "Pozo has not only accumulated medals, but is shaping up as a meteoric promise of Spanish athletics in the 400 metres," he said.
The town crier expressed his emotion as he spoke about the privilege that participating in the festivities means to him. "It is an honor to contribute from the city of Alcalá de Henares, a community that has given me so much in sports and personally," Pozo confessed.
Gerson Pozo's track record is impressive. From its beginnings in the under-16 category with national medals, through European successes in the under-18 category, up to national and European records in the under-23 category. His career leaves no doubt that his future in athletics is promising.
