Free and confidential access to health services for young people is expanding with the 'Tarde Joven' initiative. This proposal aims to facilitate access to specialized consultations in sexual and reproductive health, offering prompt and effective care to this population segment.
In this initial phase, seven health centers were opened in the Madrid region, each with a nurse specialized in Gynecology and Obstetrics. Four of these centers are located in the capital: the Doctor Castroviejo Health Center, available on Tuesdays; Espronceda and Las Cortes, in the Centro district; and Torito in Moratalaz, on Thursdays. In addition, the Panaderas Health Center in Fuenlabrada offers care on Mondays, the Puerta de Madrid in Alcalá de Henares on Wednesdays, and the Huerta de los Frailes in Leganés on Fridays.
The program aims to provide adolescents and young people with accurate and scientific information about sexual health, with the aim of reducing risky sexual behaviors and preventing unwanted pregnancies and sexually transmitted diseases. It also enables early detection of situations of violence against women and problematic emotional relationships.
Midwives will not only advise on contraceptive methods, but will also address the safe use of social media and warn about the risks of consuming pornography and other sexual content on the Internet. If necessary, examinations or specific tests may be performed, and referrals to other professionals may be made to ensure continuity of care.
«Tarde Joven» positions itself as a reference against misinformation and false myths circulating on social media, providing a safe space to clarify doubts and receive advice grounded in scientific evidence. This effort is particularly relevant in a context where misinformation and stereotypes affect young people during a period of personal development and holistic health.
