In recent days, tension in Yemen has intensified with a series of airstrikes carried out by the United States in areas controlled by the Houthi rebels. According to the Houthi television channel Al Masirah, U.S. forces carried out attacks in the Al Faza area, in the At Tuhayta district, as well as in the strategic port city of Al Hodeida, where key electrical facilities and crucial entry points for humanitarian aid are located. This offensive follows a series of previous bombings in various parts of the north and central regions of the country, including attacks in Sanaa, which left at least nine people injured. Al Masirah also reported attacks in a neighborhood of the city of Saada, although without providing additional details about the consequences.
The escalation of hostilities follows statements by U.S. President Donald Trump, who threatened a strong response against the Houthis, whom he categorizes as a terrorist group backed by Iran. Trump has demanded that Iran completely cease its support for the insurgents, in a context where the Houthis have launched missile and drone attacks from Al-Hodeida against Israel and maritime traffic in the Red Sea. This escalation of violence coincides with Israel's renewed attacks in the Gaza Strip and with the Houthis' warnings to resume military actions if aid is not allowed to enter the area. The situation in Yemen, already battered by years of conflict, is facing a new and dangerous phase of instability that threatens to spill over across regional borders.
