The Manchester Police have confirmed that they shot a suspect in a multiple hit-and-run and stabbing attack that occurred at a synagogue in Crumpsall, on the outskirts of the city. The incident, which occurred shortly after 9:30 a.m., left at least four people injured, including one with stab wounds. Although emergency services have arrived at the scene to treat the victims, the condition of the injured and of the attacker has not yet been disclosed.
The attack took place on a significant day, as it coincided with the Yom Kippur holiday, a time of high turnout in synagogues. The mayor of Manchester, Andy Burnham, said that the situation was under control and that the imminent danger had passed, although he urged residents to stay away from the area as authorities continue with the investigations and the deployment of armed officers in the region.
