The Global Sumud Flotilla has denounced on Tuesday several 'explosions' and the flight of 'unidentified drones' during its voyage toward the Gaza Strip in the Mediterranean, as well as interference with communications. The organization, which seeks to deliver humanitarian aid, reported the presence of more than 15 drones overflying its vessel Alma, which had already been attacked on an earlier scale in Tunisia, where authorities considered the incident as a 'predetermined action'. The flotilla considers these activities as “psychological operations” intended to intimidate and gather information for Israel.
The mission faces increasing tension with Israel, which labels it as a "jihadist initiative" in support of Hamas. The Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs has ordered that the flotilla must dock at Israeli ports to transfer the aid rather than head directly to Gaza. However, the Global Sumud Flotilla has rejected these accusations and reaffirmed its right to deliver humanitarian aid, insisting that its mission is "transparent and non-violent". Currently, the flotilla is composed of 51 ships, including six moored in Greece, which are preparing to join the vessels that arrived from Spain, Tunisia and Italy.
