The Chilean Public Prosecutor's Office seeks to formalize Luis Hermosilla on charges of bribery and money laundering.

Nine months after the revelation of the audio recordings of lawyer Luis Hermosilla in a private conversation, the Chilean prosecutor's office requested to formalize the investigation against him and attorney Leonarda Villalobos for bribery and money laundering. This coincides with a complaint filed by the Internal Revenue Service, which accuses Hermosilla, Villalobos, and her husband of a tax crime, alleging approximately $1.015 million in tax damages. The case broke out on November 14 after an article by Ciper Chile. Hermosilla is known for his track record of high-profile cases, including representing the Ministry of the Interior in Sebastián Piñera's administrations. The case has led to the resignation and pretrial detention of the former director of the Investigations Police, Sergio Muñoz, for breach of secrecy. Now, Hermosilla's formalization is in the hands of the Fourth Court of Guarantee of Santiago.
