Exasperated by the Continuity of the Mediocre Service

In recent days, users of the Rodalies de Catalunya train system have expressed their frustration at a series of cancellations, delays, and breakdowns that have affected the service. The situation has led the Dignitat a les Vies platform to convene simultaneous protests at several points in the region for this Saturday at 12:00 p.m., with the aim of protesting against what they consider a deficient service. The stations of Tarragona, Lleida, Tortosa, Segur de Calafell, Valls, Cardedeu, La Garriga and Figueres will be key points of these rallies, which also have the support of other organizations such as Trens Dignes Ebre, Salvem l’R2 Nord and Defensem el tren de l’Empordà.

Although the strike by Renfe and Adif workers was called off late on Sunday, which was expected to normalise the service, on Monday several Rodalies lines still suffered disruptions. The Government and the company attribute the disruptions to problems with service rescheduling after the late agreement with the unions, although the CGT was left out of the pact. However, a significant portion of users suspects the existence of a 'covert strike', using social networks to express their anger and to demand assurances of a more reliable and efficient public transport.
