The Council of Ministers of Spain will approve a contribution of €925,000 to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Middle East (UNRWA), aimed at assisting refugees with disabilities in the West Bank due to the armed conflicts. The proposal, promoted by Pablo Bustinduy's Ministry of Social Rights, seeks to provide financial support and essential services such as psychosocial care and accessible infrastructure. Special attention will be given to women and children with disabilities, who suffer the most acute effects of the clashes in the region.
Since the start of the conflict in October 2023, more than 117,000 people have been injured, according to UNRWA, and nearly 24,000 require special services due to disabilities. This new aid adds to prior donations, such as the 860,000 euros granted in November 2024 for medical care and rehabilitation in Gaza. The alarming figures of permanent injuries, especially among children, reflect the urgent need for international intervention. Additionally, in March, Spain had already committed an extraordinary aid of 20 million euros to mitigate the humanitarian crisis in the region.
