The Supreme Court has given five days to the Public Prosecutor's Office and to the private prosecutors in the Koldo case to rule on the request for release filed by Santos Cerdán, former Secretary of Organization of the PSOE, who has been provisionally detained for more than two months at Soto del Real due to fear of the destruction of evidence. In a filing sent to the investigating judge, Cerdán argues that he is the subject of a 'general investigation' that affects his entire political career, and he asserts that there are no indications of corrupt activity that would justify his imprisonment.
For their part, Cerdán's lawyers have requested that a WhatsApp group related to one of the Guardia Civil officers involved in the case be investigated, and have denounced the lack of access to all the evidence presented against him, especially with regard to the recordings by Koldo García. As the deadline for the parties to respond approaches, it is anticipated that Judge Leopoldo Puente will rule on Cerdán's continued detention and on the measures proposed by his defense. However, the situation remains uncertain, as it is unlikely that the Public Prosecutor's Office will support his release.
