BYD, through its Yangwang luxury division, has set a new standard in the world of electric vehicles with its U9, reaching the impressive speed of 472.41 km/h at the ATP Automotive Testing Papenburg test track. This achievement was realized thanks to the creation of a special edition, the Track Edition, which is equipped with four electric motors capable of generating a total of 3,000 horsepower, surpassing the original 1,305 hp and operating on a 1,200 V platform. This combination of power and advanced technology has made the U9 the fastest electric vehicle on the planet.
The U9 Track Edition not only stands out for its speed, but also for its innovative DiSus-X suspension. This system optimizes roll control, improving both comfort and driving precision by allowing rapid and independent adjustments to the damping of each wheel. With a weight-to-power ratio of 0.82 kg/hp and an aerodynamic design that includes a carbon fiber front splitter, the vehicle is perfectly prepared to take advantage of its enormous potential. The record was achieved by the German driver Marc Basseng, who had already set a world record with another electric vehicle in 2024.
