The Community of Madrid becomes a vibrant cultural stage this weekend with the programming of the Festival Escenas de Verano, which in its sixth edition extends to 158 municipalities. Driven by the regional government, the festival stands out for its diverse cultural offerings, ranging from performing arts to outdoor cinema.
The Performing Arts Cycle in municipalities will bring performances to streets and squares, fusing rural and urban environments. The Orain-Bi company will present "Mute", a work of circus and physical theatre, in Canencia, Lozoyuela-Navas-Siete Iglesias and Pozuelo del Rey over the weekend. Federico Menini, with his show 'Llar', and the street theatre company Morboria with its comedy 'Vivan los novios', will be in several municipalities, as well as the family classic 'The Wizard of Oz' in Villanueva de Perales.
The Summer Film Series will also stop in towns with fewer than 2,500 inhabitants, screening films such as "La infiltrada" and "Guardiana de dragones". Meanwhile, in the heart of Madrid, Santander Park hosts the second edition of Summers in the Park, offering theatre, cinema and outdoor yoga.
Classical music also finds its place with Classics in Summer, which features ensembles such as La Guirlande in San Martín de Valdeiglesias and Juglar in El Berrueco, taking the audience to the Baroque and Renaissance. The San Lorenzo Festival 2025, for its part, offers a tour through 20th-century Spanish music with the Carlos III Orchestra.
Art unfolds in regional galleries and museums with exhibitions such as "Madrid Icono Pop 1964-1979" at the Centro Cultural El Águila, "Ría" by Jorge Satorre at the CA2M in Móstoles, and the exhibition on gladiators at the MARPA in Alcalá de Henares. These activities reflect the commitment of the Community of Madrid to democratize access to culture and to promote citizen participation in artistic spaces.
With this extensive program, Madrid invites residents and visitors to immerse themselves in a weekend full of creativity, heritage, and artistic expression in every corner.
