Relatives of the newborn found dead in Cubelles detained: Parents and grandparents in custody

The Mossos d’Esquadra have arrested the parents and grandparents of a baby found dead in December in Cubelles, Barcelona. The body of the newborn was found in a container by a man near midnight on December 22, who promptly alerted the police. The investigation focuses on determining the role of each of the detainees in the infant's death, which is presumed to have been violent. Among those arrested is a 17-year-old suspected of being the parent, who, after appearing before the Juvenile Prosecutor's Office, has been admitted to a secure detention center.

The authorities are investigating whether the mother, still young but of legal age, gave birth in the family home where she lived with her parents, who were also detained. The Mossos are awaiting DNA results that could confirm family ties and clarify the incident. The mother and the grandparents, who remain in police custody, could provide crucial information that could reveal the circumstances of the tragic event. The judge overseeing the case will soon decide the legal status of the adults involved as the investigation continues.
