The FICA UGT union and the Federation of Metal Employers of the Province of Cádiz (FEMCA) have reached a pre-agreement on the collective bargaining agreement for the auxiliary industry, which allows the indefinite strike that began on June 23 to be called off and which affected about 31,000 workers in the region. Antonio Montoro, General Secretary of FICA UGT in Cádiz, expressed his satisfaction with the agreement reached after extensive negotiations. Although he welcomed the content of the pre-agreement, he lamented that CCOO did not agree with it and noted that important workers' demands have been included, opening the door to a collective bargaining agreement that promises stability and progress in the region.
Despite this, the Workers' Commissions has distanced itself from the agreement, although it acknowledged that there have been some improvements thanks to its participation in the negotiations. The strike, which lasted five days, was marked by tensions and clashes between the strikers and the police, resulting in 12 arrests, including a minor. The situation became critical after the workers' initial rejection of a previous pre-agreement, which led to new negotiations in the Andalusian Council of Labor Relations. While some days were peaceful, others were tainted by violence, reflecting the tension in Cádiz's metallurgical sector.
