At the La Princesa University Hospital, a prestigious medical center in the Community of Madrid, the 'Course on Radiological Protection Oriented Toward Interventional Practice' was held. This event was organized by the Association of Interventional Cardiology of the Spanish Society of Cardiology (ACI-SEC) in collaboration with the hospital's own Cardiology Department.
The course was aimed at specialist physicians and final-year residents who perform X-ray-guided interventional procedures, attracting a sizeable group of 50 cardiologists from different regions of Spain. This initiative underscores the importance of radiation protection in the field of interventional cardiology, a medical area that employs advanced technologies for the treatment of heart diseases.
During the activity, attendees had the opportunity to improve their knowledge and skills in radiation management, a crucial aspect to ensure both the safety of patients and the safety of healthcare professionals. The training included practices aimed at reducing exposure to X-rays, promoting updated techniques that meet the highest safety standards.
The collaboration between ACI-SEC and the University Hospital of La Princesa highlights the ongoing commitment of both institutions to promote specialized medical training, ensuring that cardiologists can perform their duties with the highest level of efficacy and safety. These kinds of initiatives reaffirm the dedication of the Spanish medical community toward the constant improvement of their professional practices and the protection of all those involved in high-tech procedures.
