Culture, Tourism and Sport Drive Economic Growth in Madrid

The Community of Madrid has reinforced its commitment to the culture, tourism and sport sectors, which already account for 15% of the region's GDP. This is how Mariano de Paco Serrano, councilor for these areas, announced it at the Madrid Investment Forum 2025, highlighting the investment appeal that these industries offer.

Tourism, with a contribution of 8.6% to Madrid's GDP, remains a fundamental pillar of the regional economy. The growing relevance of the sports sector, responsible for 3% of GDP, underscores the interest in consolidating Madrid as an epicenter of sport. Meanwhile, the audiovisual industry contributes 2.6%, consolidating the region as a benchmark for audiovisual productions.

In 2024, the Community of Madrid registered 1,450 shoots, representing a 32% increase over the previous year. Although the capital accounts for 60% of these productions, a notable expansion is observed in other municipalities, with activities registered in 92 localities. This growth reflects a growing interest in taking advantage of the diversity of scenarios offered by the region.

These data underline the strategic importance of culture, tourism and sport in Madrid's economy, showing them as dynamic and expanding sectors that continue to attract investments and recognitions at the national and international level.
