The Sports Department of the Alcalá de Henares City Council has officially opened the period for submitting nominations for the eagerly awaited 2025 Cervantes Sports Awards. The terms of this call are already available on the Alcalá es Deporte digital portal, offering the opportunity to athletes, clubs, companies, and local entities to be recognized for their dedication and effort in promoting sport in the Complutense city.
These awards, which are presented annually, are designed to recognize the commitment and contribution of those who raise the profile of local sport. The categories in which nominations may be submitted are varied, including the Cervantes Award for Best Athlete, the Cervantes Award for Best Sports Club, the Cervantes Award for Best Company Collaborating with Sport in Alcalá de Henares, and the prestigious Cervantes Honorary Award for Sporting Career in Alcalá de Henares. In addition, the Sports Values Awards will be distributed in the National, Community of Madrid, and Alcalá de Henares categories.
A relevant innovation in this edition is the introduction of the Senior category, recently requested by the citizenry. This new section is intended for athletes aged 65 and older, thereby recognizing that the pleasure and effort of sport have no age. With this inclusion, the Veteran category is adjusted to cover up to 64 years of age.
The culmination of this sporting celebration will take place on December 17 at the emblematic Teatro Salón Cervantes. The gala promises to be a significant event, where representatives of local sport, institutions, and the general public will gather to pay homage to those who foster the values of sport day by day in Alcalá de Henares.
