The heat wave that is plaguing Spain has reached its seventh consecutive day and is expected to continue until next Thursday, according to the State Meteorological Agency (AEMET). This Saturday, heat warnings remain in 13 autonomous communities. The Canary Islands, particularly, are facing a red alert for extreme temperatures, with Gran Canaria recording highs of up to 40 degrees. Additionally, it is expected that the storms and heavy showers will occur in the Iberian System, the Pyrenees, and surrounding regions, accompanied by very strong gusts of wind. The provinces in the orange level include important areas such as Córdoba, Jaén and Badajoz, where maximum temperatures are expected.
The heat trend, especially pronounced in the Canary Islands, will intensify over the weekend, reaching its peak between Saturday and Monday. Although some moderate declines are expected in the north, much of the country will continue to face temperatures above 20 degrees, with temperatures exceeding 25 in specific areas.
