On October 28, the León Bus Station will be the epicenter of an important day of training and awareness about cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). In the context of Cardiac Arrest Month and Health Month, Alsa and Almas Industries, in collaboration with the Spanish Heart Foundation, will carry out free workshops to teach the community how to respond to cardiopulmonary emergencies.
The sessions, directed at both travelers and any interested citizen, will be held from 12:30 to 14:30 and from 15:30 to 17:30. Each 15-minute workshop will provide expert-guided practice sessions that will teach you how to perform CPR maneuvers and how to use automated external defibrillators (AEDs).
With an average of 30,000 cardiac arrests per year in Spain, the incidence of these events highlights the urgent need for training. As Nuño Azcona, CEO of Almas Industries, stated, "Knowledge saves lives. We want anyone to know how to act in the face of a cardiac arrest and to overcome the fear of using a defibrillator."
Since 2015, Alsa has led cardioprotection initiatives in the transportation sector. With a network of 151 defibrillators installed in its infrastructure and 1,850 trained employees, the company established itself as a pioneer, receiving the Cardio-Safe Company Seal for its commitment to cardiovascular safety.
"ALSA has demonstrated that cardioprotection in public transport is possible and necessary," says the Spanish Heart Foundation. For her part, María Elena Álvarez, the regional director of Alsa, stated that "workshops such as the one that will be held are a great initiative to improve cardioprotection and awareness among the station's users."
The ongoing collaboration between Alsa and Almas Industries has enabled a comprehensive approach to cardioprotection, not only within the buses but also as part of the organizational culture. DOC technology, with devices connected to a 24-hour emergency center, ensures immediate assistance and communication during any incident.
Finally, this workshop program in León is integrated into the national campaign 'Más Vida', promoting the installation of defibrillators and CPR training in public and private spaces. The objective is clear: to raise awareness and train the public to respond effectively to cardiovascular emergencies and save lives.
