The Vueling airline has informed the French government that the disembarkation of a group of young French Jews in Valencia last Wednesday was carried out for aviation-security reasons. The French Minister of Foreign Affairs, Jean-Noël Barrot, requested explanations from the company's chief executive officer, Carolina Martinoli, regarding possible acts of discrimination toward the group of 52 adolescents and monitors who were removed from the flight bound for Paris. Barrot expressed his "deep consternation" and demanded clarifications about whether the young people suffered religious discrimination, reiterating that a similar démarche was carried out with the Spanish ambassador in France.
Vueling explained that the youths had shown a "conflictive behavior", manipulating emergency equipment and disobeying the crew's instructions, which led the captain to request the intervention of the Civil Guard. Subsequently, the group continued to display aggressive attitudes, and even a member of the group was subdued by the authorities. The airline has emphasized that its decisions are based on safety, rejecting any association with the passengers' religion, something backed by the Guardia Civil. The Official College of Commercial Aviation Pilots has also supported the commander's action, reminding that on-board safety is the top priority.
